What a wonderful week of friendship, Olympic fun and learning at Wilshire. Our halls were filled with a little competition with our International Bulletin board contest, Capture the Flag, Hello Challenge and more. Next week is sure to bring some more excitement and learning!
Pink Shirt Day
On Wednesday February 23rd, 2022 we will be recognizing Pink Shirt Day! It is a day to raise awareness for anti-bullying. It is a day where we promote respect, dignity and inclusivity for all. We must be kind to everyone and show compassion for all. We must advocate to eliminate racism and discrimination. The way we treat others is so important and we must remember this not only on February 23rd, but each and every day. Please have your child(ren) show their support by joining the Wilshire community and wearing a pink shirt on Wednesday, February 23rd!
Wilshire Family BINGO Night!
You are invited to Wilshire’s Virtual Family BINGO Night on Thursday, February 24th, 2022 from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm. This is a FREE school community event brought to you by the Wilshire School Council! Black History Month
In honour of Black History Month, York Region District School Board will be celebrating Black excellence throughout the month of February and beyond by sharing stories of our students, alumni, staff, community members, community partners and our region as a whole. Stories may be shared by YRDSB in the following ways:
- Written feature stories/profiles
- Social media profiles
If you would like to see samples of how stories will be shared, please visit the Celebrating Black Excellence page on the Board website, the Board Youtube channel and on Instagram and Twitter. Do you have a story of Black Excellence about yourself or someone you know? If so, please consider nominating a student, alumni, staff member, community member or York Region resident through our Celebrating Black Excellence form.
Kindergarten Registration is well underway for the 2022-2023 school year. Children who turn four or five years old during 2022 and live within our school boundary will be eligible to register for kindergarten. Registration information is available on the YRDSB website at Kindergarten Registration. All new kindergarten registrations will be done online this year. On the recommendation of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, updates have been made to align with current guidance and to provide clarity on isolation requirements for confirmed and presumed positive cases, and their household members and close contacts.
For those completing the screening tool who are fully vaccinated and/or 11 years old or younger, the screening tool will ask for symptoms and test results in the last 5 days. Those completing who are 12 years old or older and not fully vaccinated or immunocompromised will complete the screening tool using a 10 day measuring period.
Thank you for continuing to:
- Complete the UPDATED COVID-19 School Screening Tool for each child prior to sending your child to school.
- Submit the COVID-19 Screening Confirmation Form for EACH child. You will need to sign in using your child(ren)’s gapps username and password.
