November Family Challenge
During November, we are encouraging our students, staff and families to try something new! Learning something new or starting an activity is great for our wellbeing. Keeping our brains active is not only good for us physically but it can help you feel you are flourishing as you see yourself make progress with a new skill, or just make you smile as you make a mess and decide to start again. This month’s calendar is full of ideas to help you decide what to try next.
Holocaust Education Week November 1 – 8th
Over the next week, we are sharing stories of survival, hope and love. We remember those who died by sharing the stories of those who survived. We will be learning of the courage and bravery while dispelling myths and misinformation that fuel antisemitism and hatred. Together, we will secure the legacy of the Holocaust and ensure that our society remains an inclusive and respectful place for all Canadians.
Treaty Week – November 1 – 7th.
This year Treaties Recognition Week honours the importance of treaties and helps students and residents of Ontario learn more about treaty rights and relationships. By learning more about our collective treaty rights and obligations, we can create greater understanding and nurture relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. We are able to learn on the land Wilshire ES is built because of a treaty. This week, we will continue our learning together.
