Welcome Back!

September 3, 2021

Dear Families,

We look forward to welcoming back both our remote and in-person learners to school next week. Our school team has been busy preparing to transition and welcome our students. Below is some important information for you for the first day of school, including your child’s teacher(s) and class information.

Today, information regarding your child’s teacher, class, room # and google classroom link/code.

Please note that due to late registrations and enrolments, there may be staffing changes and class reorganization during the first few weeks of school. Remote Learners

  • First day schedule – We will spend the morning of the first day of school focused on health and safety, and ensuring in-person learners understand and are comfortable with health and safety routines. During this time, asynchronous (not live) learning activities will be available for remote learners to access. These activities are available by division. We look forward to welcoming our remote learners live in the afternoon.
  • Morning – Please visit the Remote Learning Asynchronous Learning Site the morning of September 9 to access learning activities.
  • Afternoon – Please join our Google classroom using the classroom code above at 1:35 pm.
  • Year 1 Kindergarten – Families will have received information about the supported entry process for Kindergarten. On the day when Year 1 children are not attending class, asynchronous (not live) learning activities will be available on the Remote Learning Asynchronous Learning Site.  All Kindergarten students will be attending on Monday September 13 for the full day.
  • Google Classroom – Resources for accessing and using Google Classroom can be found on the Board website in addition to other family resources. If your child does not know their GAPPS login information, you can contact your child’s teacher or call Wilshire ES.
  • Technology – If your child requires technology to access remote learning, please contact the school office.

We appreciate that families have many questions. We will continue to share information with you, and work with you to support your child in transitioning back to school. Additional information is also available on the Board website, including health and safety measures, frequently asked questions and resources at www.yrdsb.ca/school-reopening. In addition, earlier this week, the Board held a town hall responding to questions submitted by families. A recording of the town hall is available.

We look forward to seeing our students next week!
