Updates from Wilshire

Good Morning Families,

On behalf of the Wilshire staff, I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.  We are almost through our first week of teacher-led at-home learning.  Hopefully, everyone has been able to navigate our new way of teaching and learning and is becoming more comfortable.  If you are encountering challenges, please contact your child’s teacher so that you can troubleshoot together.  We want to make sure every student has the opportunity to continue their learning with their teachers.

Chag Pesach Same’ach to all of our families who are celebrating Passover.  Happy Easter to those families who are celebrating this weekend.  Happy Vaisakhi to our friends who are also celebrating this weekend.  Please note that Friday, April 10 (Good Friday) and Monday, April 13 (Easter Monday) are school holidays so teachers will not be available to respond to concerns or post assignments on those days.  Many of our teachers will also be celebrating Passover and will not be available on Thursday, April 9.  Regular online communication will resume on Tuesday, April 14.

For those families who requested technology through the YRDSB Technology Survey, or who have requested their child’s Special Education technology device (SEA devices), distribution for technology will occur on Thursday, April 16.  Parents will be contacted by  school staff by phone on Tuesday to set up a pick-up time at the school (the call will appear as an Unknown Caller; please answer the call).   On the phone call, parents will be asked to provide a license plate number to confirm their identity so that the technology can be provided without anyone either exiting the vehicle (unless opening/closing the trunk) or entering the school. This will ensure that we are adhering to requirements for physical/social distancing.

Details regarding the pick up times and location will be included in the phone call from the school staff.  April 16 is the only day that technology distribution will occur.  Please make sure that an adult is available on that day to pick up the device.

Best wishes to everyone for this long holiday weekend!
