Reminders: Curriculum Night and Religious Holidays

A couple of reminders about upcoming events:

  1.  Curriculum Night is this Thursday, September 26 from 5:30-6:30.  Teachers will be doing mini-presentations in their classes, once at 5:30 and again at 6:00, to accommodate parents who may have children in different classes.  This is an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, learn about the expectations for the class this year, and how you can support your child’s learning at home.  This is not a parent-teacher interview, so please arrange a different time to meet with the teacher if you would like to have a more in-depth conversation about your child’s progress.  Be sure to also visit the TVOntario booth to learn about “MPower” and “Mathify”, two online platforms that our students will be using this year to support their achievement in Math.
  2. Many of our families will be celebrating Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur in the      coming weeks.  Please make sure that you go into Edsby or call the school office to report your child’s absence on those days.  This can be done at any time.  If a student is away on a religious holiday and parents have not reported their absence ahead of time, we will still need to call parents to get confirmation on that day that they are safe at home.  You can avoid this disruption to your holiday by being sure to report the absence ahead of time.  Thank you!
